This week is all about the winch, like the last week mentioned. According to the motor specs, as the picture below shows. I came up with the sketch up top. The whole winch consists of three aspects: The motor holder, the winch, and the holder. The motor holder holds the motor and lets the wires go through. The winch per se is controlling the up and down and where I tie the fishing line. The winch has a whole matching the axis of the motor. The holder holds the winch on the other side. Using any material combining the three makes the whole winch system. I also discussed with Ziye how we are hanging the winch system, we found out that the system is very light and small in size (120mm x 50mm x 50mm). So it would not become a problem
Using 3D software to make the model of the winch system.
On Monday/Tuesday (Monday is President's Day so I wonder if Makerspace is available), I will print the winch system out with a Universal 3D printer and test the fit of the motor and the functioning. Next week I will be focusing on building one fragment and connecting it to the winch system. The process is very achievable and successful since my skill in 3D modeling makes it work in my installation project.
3D print in progress, which would take 8 hours, which is right before class, hope nothing goes wrong since it is a really long printing process. If this model works, I will use this version of the file and print as many winch systems as I want. This is the first time I have used a 3D printer after my sophomore year, tech has changed everything, and now there is a screen on the printer which makes everything easier. I am so glad I still remember everything for 3D printing.
